Pastéli (Greek Sesame Snaps) Recipe

If you are looking for a quick and simple sweet snack that satisfies both taste and crunch, look no further. With only three ingredients, this recipe found on a blog by Carrots and Spice is the fastest snack recipe that I have discovered that lasts for a couple weeks if stored in an airtight container (if you can refrain from eating them that long, that is). Perfect for satisfying those sweet tooth cravings. PLUS it's gluten free!

  • 1½ cups toasted sesame seeds
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup raw honey

Combine ingredients in a large heavy-based saucepan and bring to the boil, stirring occasionally, over low heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until mixture reaches 320°F on a candy thermometer.

Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Pour mixture into sheet and smooth top. Allow to cool slightly, using a sharp knife, cut into pieces. Let cool completely, and then break into pieces.  Will keep in an airtight container for up to two weeks.

Yield: about 25 pieces
Total Time: approximately 20 minutes
